Toronto Argonauts News Release
Mississauga - The Toronto Argonauts have added size in 6-foot, 5-inch WR Jeron Harvey, former Olympian Abraham Morlu brings speed and the experience is supplied by AFL star Cleannord Saintil as three new receivers sign with the Double Blue.
Jeron Harvey was a larger than life competitor in college and hopes to carry that performance over north of the border. A graduate of the University of Houston, Harvey played in 34 games with 29 starts for the Cougars. In 2006, he caught 41 passes for 671 yards and earned honourable mention All Conference USA. Before transferring to Houston, Harvey played for Dodge Community College in Kansas City where he was named First-Team All-Jayhawk Conference and made 52 catches for 956 yards and 14 touchdowns. Out of college, Harvey signed as an undrafted free agent with his hometown Jacksonville Jaguars.
The world has already watched Abraham Morlu at the Olympics and the World Track Championships, and now Toronto will see what he can do on the gridiron. Sporting a sub 4.3 40-yard dash time, Morlu will come to Argos camp as a receiver and kick returner who recently played for the Charlotte Stars where he broke a league record by recording over 500 yards of offence in a single game. After emigrating with his family from Liberia, he grew up in the U.S and represented Liberia at the 2000 Summer Olympics and 2001 World Track Championships. He attended University of North Carolina at Charlotte on a track & field scholarship and was an eight-time All-Conference selection. He was also a five-time winner of the Commissioner's medal as one of the top athletes in Conference USA.
Cleannord Saintil has spent the last two years honing his offensive game as a receiver in the AFL. He enjoyed extraordinary offensive production with the San Jose SabreCats and was the team's leading receiver (120 receptions for 1,503 yards and 35 TDs) last season. He was also a strong contributor in the club's playoff drive, catching 24 passes for 248 yards and 7 TDs, before ultimately losing in the ArenaBowl. Saintil played two seasons at Middle Tennessee State, where he led the conference with 66 catches as a senior, after transferring from Highland Community College.
