Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

The Lethbridge Hurricane's "Fourth Annual Celebrity Sports Dinner and Auction" will play host to former NHL Official and recent Hall of Fame inductee Ray Scapinello as the evening's keynote celebrity speaker.

Ray Scapinello saw it all during his NHL career, As a linesman, 'Scampy' shared the ice with the likes of Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur, Phil Esposito and many more on a long list of hockey's all-time greats. Scapinello worked 2,508 regular-season and 426 playoff games, and 20 Stanley Cup finals, and never once missed work due to sickness or injury during his remarkable 33-year NHL career. His longevity and iron-man streak is all the more amazing when you consider he never wore a helmet and visor, from his first game in 1971 to his last one in 2004.

It's been four years since he retired, but Scapinello's time away from the NHL hasn't dimmed his love affair with hockey, or his memories. He makes regular appearances on the Score sports network and has released a book entitled "Between the Lines." Mike Richards, host of the Morning Show on the FAN 960 - Calgary's Sports radio, returns as the emcee for his 3rd year to the event he recently called "his favorite evening of the year."

Personalities such as Bob Cole, Vijay Singh, Mikka Kipprusoff, and Sly Stallone are just a few of the characters Richards is sure to bring to life.

This event has sold out since inception and has raised over $130,000 for community organizations and charities to date. Our goal has always been to ensure the proceeds of the evening benefit the community of Lethbridge and surrounding area. The silent auction will be running throughout the night while the evening will conclude with the live auction that features a number of rare jerseys and unique sports memorabilia items. We would like extend our invitation to have you be a part of this years event by attending or donating an item for our live or silent auction.

Thank you for your support!! The Board of the Lethbridge Hurricanes
