2009 AHL All-Star Classic to be televised to more than 100 million households

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... In addition to the crowds who will witness the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications in person at the DCU Center in Worcester, the action will also reach millions of AHL fans worldwide through television, cybercast and satellite radio.
The event, with the 2009 AHL All-Star Skills Competition set for Sunday, Jan. 25, and the 2009 AHL All-Star Game to follow on Monday, Jan. 26, will be produced by the New England Sports Network (NESN) and televised to more than 100 million households in North America.
2009 marks the beginning of a new three-year partnership between the AHL and TSN, which will see the leading sports network in Canada carry the AHL All-Star Classic live to nine million households nationally. In addition to NESN, the league's showcase event can also be seen this year on more than 20 regional networks in the United States, including Fox Sports in its Pittsburgh, Ohio, Midwest, Houston, Southwest, Arizona and Northwest regions; Comcast SportsNet on its Philadelphia, Chicago and California networks; the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN); and Altitude Sports and Entertainment, which reaches views across 10 states in and around the Rocky Mountains.
MSG Plus will carry the event for its viewers throughout New York state and in parts of New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, while fans in Florida will be able to catch it on Sun Sports. Time Warner customers in Albany, Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester and Milwaukee will get to see the AHL All-Star Classic on their local Time Warner Cable Sports channel, and Comcast cable customers in the Philadelphia area will see the event on the Comcast Network.

The 2009 AHL All-Star Game can also be heard anywhere in the world via audio cybercast on theahl.com. Worcester Sharks play-by-play voice Eric Lindquist and WTAG News/Talk 580 will provide the radio broadcast of the 2009 AHL All-Star Game, which will also air on the NHL Home Ice channel (XM 204, Sirius 208) on Sirius XM Radio - America's satellite radio company - and XM Canada with nearly 20 million subscribers across North America.
Additionally, the broadband video webcast of the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic will air on AHL Live.
Of the 455 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 94 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Dan Boyle, Brian Campbell, Zdeno Chara, Rick DiPietro, Jiri Hudler, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Tomas Vokoun.
The 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications will feature the 2009 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 25 (4:00 p.m. ET) and the 2009 AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 26 (7:00 p.m. ET).
