Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
For the 3rd year in a row the Cutters Hot Stove Banquet with the Phillies is a sell-out.
The Williamsport Crosscutters have also announced that Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Kalas will again be part of the evening along with Sarah "Salty" Ferguson who played for the famed Rockford Peaches of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The league and the Peaches were made famous by the Tom Hanks movie, "A League of Their Own".
Kalas and Ferguson join the already announced guest list of Phillies pitcher J.A. Happ (pronounced Jay), new Cutters manager Chris Truby and the Phillie Phanatic. More guests are expected to be added before the event.
The 3rd Annual Hot Stove Dinner & Auction takes place on Wednesday, January 14, at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport. A portion of the proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Lycoming County United Way.
The highlight of this year's event will be the chance for fans to view the Phillies 2008 World Series Trophy. Everyone attending the event will receive a professionally taken photo of themselves posing with the trophy at no extra charge.
Cutters Vice-President of Marketing, Gabe Sinicropi stated, "The World Series trophy has taken on rock-star status in the last few years and will probably be the most popular attraction of the event. We are proud that, with the help of the Phillies, we can bring it to Williamsport and have fans receive their very own photo with this historic piece of hardware."
The evening, presented in part by Professional Petroleum, Woodlands Bank, WRAK and the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, will consist of dinner, an entertainment portion, featuring interviews and question and answer segments with many of the special guests, plus Chinese and live auctions of Phillies & other sports memorabilia by T&S Auction Company. The dinner and entertainment portion of the event will begin at 6:30 PM, preceded by an hour of mingling, photos with the World Series trophy, fun and games, plus the start of the Chinese auction. Free autographs will be available for attendees at the close of event.
