Kane County Cougars News Release
Elfstrom Stadium Renovation Update
NOTE: Throughout the construction of the $10.5 million Elfstrom Stadium renovation, the Cougars will give On Deck subscribers regular updates and a continually-changing photo gallery to provide an inside look.
As the calendar turns to December, construction crews continue to press on and work hard on the Elfstrom Stadium renovation project.
Order in any denomination. Treat someone at work to a $20 gift certificate. Or perhaps you'd like to give a larger value to a loved one who you know will be at Elfstrom Stadium next season? Gift certificates are valid for any denomination.
Use for tickets. For Cougars fans, a gift certificate can go right towards their favorite seats. Since our tickets are on sale now, gift certificates can be redeemed for dates of their choice which include fireworks nights, special entertainers and exciting promotions that are all part of the '09 schedule.
How about merchandise or souvenirs? Cougars threads go great year-round, whether it's a t-shirt or a more winter-appropriate article of clothing such as a hooded sweatshirt. Gift certificate recipients have tons of options at our souvenir shop, including baseball card sets, Ozzie dolls and mini-bats.
Cougars convenience. Taking the stress out of your holiday shopping season, Cougars gift certificates can be ordered online by clicking here. Or stop by the office in the next couple of weeks -- we'd love to see you! If you're in a last-minute bind, we can even put the gift certificate in the mail and have it addressed to the recipient directly to give you one less task to worry about.
Save The Date! Winter Banquet Information Announced
The Cougars are pleased to announce that former Cougar radio voices and current Major League broadcasters Dave Wills and Scott Franzke will serve as co-headliners at the Cougars' 2009 Winter Banquet and Silent Auction, sponsored by Provena Mercy Medical Center.
The annual event will be held on Friday evening, January 30 at Pipers Banquets in Aurora, at the corner of Church and Butterfield Roads. Cocktails and the start of the silent auction begins at 5:30 pm and precedes dinner at 7 pm. The speakers program begins at 8 pm.
Both Wills and Franzke made early strides in their broadcasting career as radio voices of the Cougars. Wills was the inaugural broadcaster for the Cougars in 1991 and steadily advanced in his career after leaving Kane County, spending time with the White Sox before joining the Tampa Bay Rays in 2005.
Similar to Wills, Franzke honed his craft at Elfstrom Stadium, spending three seasons (1999-2001) with the Cougars and broadcasting Kane County's lone championship team -- the 2001 squad which included up-and-coming Major League talent such as Miguel Cabrera and Adrian Gonzalez.
Franzke is currently a broadcaster with the Phillies, which were crowned World Series champions this past fall.
And who did the Phillies oppose? None other than Wills' Tampa Bay Rays team. Surely both Wills and Franzke will have some interesting stories and reflections on both teams' remarkable runs this past season.
Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to take part in a silent auction featuring autographed sports memorabilia and other gift and travel packages. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Cougars' charitable foundation, Ozzie's Outreach.
Open to the public, fans are encouraged to reserve their table space today!
