Houston wouldn't go quietly and mounted a come-back with Jason Deitsch scoring a power-play goal at 13:10 in the third period. Brust was pulled in favor of an extra attacker which allowed Corey Locke to tie the game with only 1:53 remaining. Clayton Stoner and Krys Kolanos set up the play that sent the game into overtime with a 2-2 tie.
Neither team was able to finish the game with the additional five minutes of play even with Manitoba getting a man-advantage. In the shootout Houston got going early with Brust blocking the first two attempts and Locke scoring on the Aeros' first chance.
