Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Ottawa Senators assigned today right-winger Ryan Shannon to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.
Shannon was recalled on Nov. 12 and played his first NHL game of the season in a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders on Nov. 13. He was held off the scoresheet while playing just under 13 minutes of ice-time in the game, and suffered a concussion that kept him out of the lineup for the next six games. Shannon returned to action last night in Ottawa's 5-1 win over the Atlanta Thrashers, recording one assist in 7:51 of playing time.
Shannon, in his third NHL season and fourth year as a pro, was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman Lawrence Nycholat on Sept. 2. In 82 regular-season NHL games over three seasons, he has seven goals, 18 assists and 34 penalty minutes.
In 12 games this season with the B-Sens, the 25-year-old has five goals, nine assists, six penalty minutes and a +8 rating. In 114 regular-season AHL games over five seasons, he has 36 goals, 82 assists and 118 penalty minutes.
The B-Sens return to home ice on Friday, Dec. 5 to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Good tickets remain for this contest. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling ticket master at 722-7272, or at the Arena box office inside the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
