
RiverDogs, Boys and Girls Club Partner for MLB Inner City Baseball Clinic

CHARLESTON -- The Charleston RBI Baseball Program of the Boys and Girls Club of the Charleston trident area attended the 2nd Annual Inner City Baseball One-Day free clinic in Columbia on Sunday, Nov. 16. This clinic was held for players who attend inner city high schools around the state of South Carolina.
The Major League Baseball scouting bureau with affiliates' representatives as well as other knowledgeable baseball instructors from around the state organized the clinic.
The Charleston RiverDogs were partners with the Boys and Girls Club of the Trident Area in this effort to get inner city youth further exposed to the game of baseball.
The clinic was held from 12:45-5 pm at Capital City Stadium, formally the home of the Capital City Bombers, a minor league affiliate with the New York Mets. The clinics' participants went through a series of drills that range from infielding, outfielding and base-running, among others.
Charleston RBI Yankees Junior Team Participants included Steven Jones, Trey White, Mills Adams, Corker Adams, Christopher Williams, Christopher Duggins and Isaac Smalls. Charleston RBI Yankees Senior Team Participants included Adonis Gilchrist, Cordell Perlote, Javar Middleton, Eugene Roper, Jamad Pinckney, Rashad Pinckney and Henry Washington.
"As a partner of the Charleston RBI program, I'm pleased that the guys were provided this wonderful opportunity and that they took advantage of it," said Harold Craw, RiverDogs' director of sales and an organizer of the event.
"It was a positive experience for some of our inner city youth, to get baseball instruction from major league baseball scouts," said Lerone Johnson, RBI junior and senior teams' head coach.
