Thunder 2009 Promo Schedule Is Set

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Thunder, the Class AA affiliate of the New York Yankees, released its 2009 promotional schedule on Thursday. The 2009 slate will feature multiple giveaways themed around the Thunder's 2008 Eastern League Championship, giveaways to commemorate the 2009 EL All-Star Game to be played in Trenton and 19 fireworks shows.

The Thunder will offer fans entrance giveaways themed around the team's back-to-back Eastern League Championships five times in 2009 including: Back-To-Back Championship Caps (April 24), Youth Championship T-Shirts (April 26), Championship Bucket Hats (May 8), a Commemorative Championship Canvas giveaway (May 11) and another Commemorative Canvas giveaway featuring a photo of Austin Jackson from the 2008 EL Championship Series (June 1).

The Thunder will host the Eastern League All-Star game on July 15 and have three giveaways in support of the special event. All Star Game Pint Glasses will go to fans ages 18 and over on June 16. July 6 will feature All-Star Game Pennants going to the first 2,000 fans ages 6 and over. Two days after the All-Star Game, on July 17, the first 2,000 fans will receive a glossy photo from the All-Star Game.

Some brand new items will make their Thunder promo schedule debuts. On May 12, the first 1,000 fans ages 18 and over will take home a Thunder Ketchup and Mustard dispenser set, just in time for the summer grilling season. Fans on July 7 will receive a photo paperweight (first 1,500 fans ages 6 and over) featuring Chase That Golden Thunder. Fans on August 12 will also receive paperweights - this time featuring Austin Jackson. Both paperweights will be shaped like "bases" with the top being lenticular with a series of action photos.

The Thunder will have four "Jersey Auction" nights where fans can bid on the specially themed game-worn jerseys throughout the games. Thunder players will wear Pink Jerseys on Mother's Day / Breast Cancer Awareness Day, Camouflage Jerseys on June 12 to celebrate Armed Forces Night, American Flag Jerseys on July 4 and "Irish" themed jerseys on July 27, Irish-American Night.

The promotional schedule has 19 fireworks shows over the course of the season, including all Thursday and Saturday night games as well as both July 4th and July 5th over Independence Day Weekend.

Tradionally, the most in-demand giveaways on the Thunder schedule are bobblehead dolls. There will be seven bobblehead giveaways and one statue giveaway featuring former Thunder players. The players to be featured will be announced at a later date.

Four "Heritage Nights" are on the 2009 schedule with Italian-American Night leading the way on June 2. The 2nd annual Jewish Heritage Night will be held on July 8, long time Thunder staple, Irish American Night, will be played on July 27 and the 2nd annual Latin American Night will take place on August 18. All four nights will feature music and special events themed around that night's "heritage".

The 2009 calendar will also feature traditonally popular giveaways such as replica jerseys, caps, batting helmets, fielding gloves, baseballs, full size bats and baseball card sets.
