PROVIDENCE, RI - Scott Munroe made 46 saves to shut out the Providence Bruins and carry the Philadelphia Phantoms to a 2-0 win at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday evening. Claude Giroux and Jared Ross provided the scoring as Munroe recorded his second shutout of the season. The Phantoms are now 8-6-0-0 on the season and have won six of their last seven games.

After a scoreless first period, Philadelphia broke through first with 9:43 to play in the second period. Forechecking by Garrett Klotz and Ross had caused general unrest in the Providence zone. Klotz got off a shot that Tukka Rask stopped, but Claude Giroux was there to sweep in the rebound and give his club a 1-0 lead.

The Phantoms then added an insurance goal 3:24 into the third. Giroux intercepted a pass at center ice and came into the zone with Ross. Giroux carried the puck into the right circle and then threw it in front, where Ross redirected it past Rask to make it 2-0.

Meanwhile, Munroe stood tall in net, stopping 40 shots in the first two periods alone. But the Phantoms held Providence to just six shots in the third period. Neither team scored on the power play, with the Phantoms going 0-for-4 and Providence 0-for-5. Rask took the loss with 26 saves on 28 Philadelphia shots.
