Farris Commits to Princeton

Sioux Falls, SD- The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today that forward Matt Farris has committed to Princeton University for the 2010-11 season.

The Pierre, SD native is in his second season with the Stampede and has three points (1g, 2a) in eight games after posting 15 points (5g, 10a) in 46 games last year. He tallied the eventual game winning goal last Saturday in a 5-2 win at Tri-City.

Farris is the first ever South Dakota native to make the Stampede roster. Prior to joining the Stampede, he recorded 83 points (57g, 26a) in 36 games with the Pierre Capitals.

Princeton University is located in Princeton, NJ and has an enrollment of 2,100 students. Princeton is where Hobart A.H. Baker, whom the Hobey Baker Trophy and Hobey Baker Memorial award are named, played his collegiate hockey. The Tigers are the defending ECAC and Ivy League Champions after posting a 21-14-0 record and advancing to the NCAA Tournament last season.

Farris is the sixth Stampede player to commit to a Division I program and will become the second Stampede player to play at Princeton. Mark Magnowski (2005-06) is currently in his junior season with the Tigers.

Farris and the Stampede return to action Friday night when they face the Green Bay Gamblers at the Sioux Falls Arena at 7:05 PM. The game kicks off a six-game homestand for the Stampede who will play the next three weekends at the Arena.
