Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will play their tenth anniversary home opener this Saturday night at 7:05 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Opening Night is presented by Collins Community Credit Union.
In celebration of the team's tenth anniversary, the home opener will see the return of several RoughRider favorites of seasons past to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Kevin Brooks- now a Rider assistant coach, Derik Johnson- now a Waterloo assistant, Matt Olinger, Brett Beckfeld and Kevin Wehrs will all be a part of pregame festivities.
The first 1,000 fans through the doors Saturday night will receive guaranteed-win Collins Community Credit Union scratch cards. Scratch card prizes include RoughRiders replica jerseys and t-shirts and funds toward the opening of a membership at Collins Community Credit Union.
All fans in attendance at the home opener will also receive free 2008-09 RoughRiders magnet schedules courtesy of St. Luke's Iowa Health System, St. Luke's Velocity Sports Performance, Aspen Athletic Clubs, i wireless and AM 1360 The Fan.
In addition, an authentic RoughRiders jersey autographed by the 2008-09 team, as well as a game-used stick autographed by last year's Rider squad, will be auctioned off Saturday night to benefit the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation's Flood 2008 Fund. The Flood 2008 Fund supports nonprofit organizations throughout Linn County with ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts in the wake of June's flood.
The RoughRiders won their season opener last Friday in Indianapolis, defeating the Indiana Ice 4-2. The Riders will travel to Bensenville, Illinois, tomorrow night to take on the Chicago Steel before returning home for Saturday evening's clash with the Black Hawks.
Tickets for all RoughRiders home games- including Saturday night's game- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or online at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
The RoughRiders also offer the Flex Plan, which enables fans to purchase books of ten ticket vouchers that can be redeemed in any quantity for any regular season home game during normal box office hours. Fans who purchase the flex plan receive a significant discount ($21 off game day ticket prices) by investing in bulk tickets and can still enjoy the games of their choice in the seats they want.
