Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today the team will re-launch their website, amerks.com, on Tuesday, October 7th. The site, which was redesigned by clevermethod, will feature a more edgy and exciting look that conveys the history and tradition of the second oldest team in the American Hockey League.
The banner of the website highlights the transition from the past to the present with the tagline, "A New Day... For a Rochester Tradition." The website header features the 1965-66 Calder Cup team photo with a splash of action shots of current and legendary players, which rotates at the click of your mouse.
The site also features the most up-to-date information, live game video and highlights, player pages, a Hall of Fame section, a Kids' Club page, player features and interviews, a photo gallery, and an easier to navigate ticket information center. Fans also have access to podcasts of the Amerks and Knighthawks' radio show, "Power Play," which debuts on Monday, October 6th at 6:30 p.m. at Eagle Vale Golf Course in Fairport on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com.
Clevermethod has been a proud sponsor of the Amerks since the 2004 season and also serves as the web provider for the National Lacrosse League Rochester Knighthawks. Clevermethod is a customer-focused web development, custom software and technology solutions firm based in Elma, NY, just outside of Buffalo. Founded in 2000, the firm specializes in web design and database-driven applications for Internet, Intranet and e-commerce projects.
The most exciting portion of the website, however, is the Total Media Center, which houses the latest video and audio features and interviews of Amerks players and coaches. The Amerks are able to provide this type of exclusive access through its partnership with SportsZu.tv. The Amerks signed a three-year deal with the web company to provide fans with unlimited access to the Rochester Americans.
Founded in 2007 by Youth Sport TV, LLC, SportZu.tv was created to give sports players, coaches, referees and parents an interactive community to watch, share, communicate, post, learn and make new friends. SportZu.tv also features the Major League Lacrosse Denver Outlaws, Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids and the NLL's Colorado Mammoth and Toronto Rock to name a few.
The Amerks will open their 53rd AHL season at The Blue Cross Arena against the Syracuse Crunch. Faceoff is set for 7:35 p.m. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. On Opening Night on fans will enjoy one of the most exciting openers in the history of the franchise, as the organization provides pregame entertainment, LIVE music, free autographs, kids' events and the largest bobblehead giveaway in team history.
Opening Night will start with a bang, as Shane Yellowbird and the Skycoasters will perform FREE concerts outside the arena to kick off the Block Party. The Skycoasters will play from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by country music recording artist Shane Yellowbird from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
As part of the Block Party, kids and adults will also get to meet area mascots, face painters, clowns and such famous Amerks alumni as Jody Gage, Dick Gamble, Doug Gibson, Stan Jonathan and Geordie Robertson to name a few. Further, fans will be able to jump around in the bounce house and get their first look at the Amerks' dance team, "The American Spirit".
Upon entering the arena, the first 10,000 people will take home a Rory Fitzpatrick bobblehead. There are also chances to ride around in bumper boats during the second intermission and to take part in all of the exciting promotions throughout the game.
