Sporting Kansas City News Release

Kansas City Wizards goalkeeper Kevin Hartman will continue his book-reading series this Saturday in Overland Park, Kan. Hartman has appeared at five locations throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area over the past few months reading Boots Saves the Day, the children's book he authored. Fans can purchase copies of the book at future events, and Kevin will then sign copies of the book for fans. The event takes place from 3-4 p.m. this Saturday at the Borders Bookstore of 91st street in Overland Park.

"I was working with the literacy program for MLS from 2003-05, and I always found myself reading Dr. Seuss books to the kids," Hartman said. "I always thought it'd be cool to be reading about soccer in one of those books. So I sat down and wrote a story that not only gives life lessons to kids, but is also about soccer."

Kevin is in the process of establishing his own foundation, The Kevin Hartman Foundation, where proceeds from the sale of Boots Saves the Day will go to help his favorite children's charities. Jennifer Hartman, Kevin's wife, illustrated the book with inspiration from their family cat Gigsy. The book is available for $9.99 at kcsoccerstore.com.
