Brahmas Bring Back Kinnunen And Davis

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (September 30)- The Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) will bring back a blast from the past as they have signed defenseman Justin Kinnunen and forward Aaron Davis for the 2008-09 season.
Kinnunen, 27, returns to the Brahmas for his fifth professional season after a remarkable year with the Brahmas. The Negaunee, MI native represented the Brahmas in the CHL All-Star Game and led all Brahmas defenseman in scoring. In 64 games played, the speedy defenseman posted 43 points (11 G, 32 A).
Kinnunen's play reflected the team's successful postseason run, as he had nine points (2 G, 7 A) in 14 games. The 6-foot-1 defenseman was a key component in the Brahmas special teams shutting down the opposition's powerplay and setting up six powerplay goals in the playoffs.
Brahmas fans will find themselves very familiar with Texas' newest addition to the 2008-09 roster with Aaron Davis. Davis, 29, arrives to Texas following a season with the Mississippi RiverKings of the CHL. The 6-foot-2 center played for the Brahmas in 2003-04 and 2004-05.
Last year, Davis put up a career best 21 goals in 48 games played. His 45 points (21 G, 24 A) ranked him sixth among all forwards for the RiverKings.
The five year CHL veteran spent two seasons in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) before joining the Brahmas in 2003. In his time in the ECHL, Davis played with the Arkansas RiverBlades, Trenton Titans and Pensacola Ice Pilots for 40 games.
Texas Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong believes the return of Kinnunen and addition of Davis will catapult the Brahmas to success.
"Kinnunen added some great things to our lineup last season, his presence on the blueline helped limit the opponent's offense. He uses his quickness and skating ability to his advantage. Davis is a strong competitor and leader. We expect great things for him this season in a Brahmas uniform," Wildfong said.
