Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

The Idaho Falls Chukars lost 8-2 in a rain-shorted game Thursday night at Mike Lansing Field in Casper, Wyoming. Seven unearned runs put the Ghosts up big and then rain cost the Chukars three trips to the plate.

The Ghosts scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and the Chukars were able to tie the game at one apiece in the top of the fourth inning. The fourth inning was also the big inning for Capser. With two outs and two runners aboard a dropped pop fly allowed one run to score and opened the floodgates as Casper scored seven total runs that inning. After the error three Ghosts' reached on hits and in the inning a total of ten batters came to the plate. A bases loaded fielder's choice brought a run home in the fifth for Idaho Falls, but that would be the end of the scoring.

Chukars' starter Aneidy Toribio had five strikeouts in four innings, while allowing no walks and only one earned run. On the other hand, Toribio gave up ten hits and was charged with seven unearned runs and the loss. Steven Miller pitched one shutout inning, but didn't get a chance to come back out as the game was called in the middle of the sixth inning. Offensively five Chukars went 1-for-3, while Alwin Perez finished 1-for-2 and Tito Espinosa went 2-for-3.

The 2008 season finale starts at 7:05 at Mike Lansing Field in Casper, Wyoming Friday night.
