Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA - Major League Baseball has October, but for the minors it is all about September. The right to play in the postseason is why the players train in the off season, it's why they push themselves when they are tired, it's why they play afternoon games in 90 degree heat in Spring Training and battle bumps, bruises and broken bones for 140 games all summer. The 66ers (Dodgers) and Quakes (Angels) have both endured long seasons, but it all come down to Tuesday in a do-or-die game where the winner will be the #3 seed for the South Division in the California League playoffs and the loser goes home. Both Los Angeles farm teams finished the season with a 67-73 record.
The Quakes pulled out a 5-3 win on Monday to force the one game tiebreaker contest.
Baseball lovers will have a chance to see what could be a game that fans will be talking about for years to come.
Alberto Bastardo will take the hill for the 66ers. He owned the sixth best earned run average in the Cal League for the month of August at 2.43. He counterpart, Quakes' Jordan Walden, had the seventh best ERA in August at 2.73. He will toe the rubber for Rancho Cucamonga.
One more note worth mentioning is the fact the 66ers have hosted the Quakes 10 times at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in San Bernardino during the 2008 campaign. The 66ers record in those 10 games is 8-2, including a three game sweep just one week ago.
The 66ers have outscored the Quakes 65-44 this year at home and have won five of those eight games by one run when the pressure was on.
Tuesday will be another $2 Tuesday in San Bernardino. That includes tickets, parking, food and drinks for just $2! Promotions are subject to change. The game will start at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:05 p.m.
The 66ers will be selling their annual PLAYOFF PASS starting on Tuesday at 9 a.m. For just $18, you can sit in the Executive Box section and see every home playoff game in San Bernardino for 2008. The Field Box section is available for $16 and Upper Box for $14.
