
Wizards Travel to San Jose for First Match Against Expansion Earthquakes

The Kansas City Wizards (6-7-8, 26 pts) travel to face the San Jose Earthquakes (5-9-7, 22 pts) tomorrow at 9 p.m. CT on Metro Sports and Time Warner Cable Channel 5. The game will mark Kansas City's first contest against the new version of the Earthquakes in the team's first season back in MLS. The original San Jose club moved to Houston and became the Dynamo prior to the 2006 season.
Kansas City enters the match have only lost twice in its last ten games and five points out of the final playoff spot. A win Saturday would put the Wizards within two points of the final playoff position with eight games remaining, including five home matches. San Jose features former Wizards defender Nick Garcia and forward Scott Sealy. Kansas City sent Garcia to California in the offseason for the 1st overall selection in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. The Wizards then acquired allocation money from San Jose for Sealy in July.
The Wizards play back to back road matches over the next two weeks, then host the Los Angeles Galaxy Saturday, September 13 at 4 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium. Los Angeles features international superstar David Beckham, U.S. international Landon Donovan and former Wizards midfielder Chris Klein.
This weekend, the Wizards will be a major attraction at the Kansas City Irish Fest at Crown Center. The Wizards will have a 40X40 tent near the Boulevard Stage and show several sporting events live, including tomorrow's match on Metro Sports.
