Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced today that second-year defenseman Scott McDonald has been traded to the Halifax Mooseheads in exchange for an eighth round selection at the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft. Should McDonald play a single game for Halifax during the 2008-2009 season, the pick will automatically be upgraded to a sixth rounder.

Originally drafted in the seventh round (109th overall) of the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft, McDonald appeared in 21 games for the Sea Dogs last season, registering 0G-1A-1P-7PIM in addition to an even +/- rating. The 18-year old native of Waverly, NS played his midget hockey with the Dartmouth Subways, a team which featured current Sea Dogs forward Steven Anthony and which won a provincial championship in 2007.

Saint John opens the fourth training camp in franchise history tomorrow morning at 9:00am at Harbour Station. The first of two intra-squad contests will be played at 2:30pm on Friday afternoon, with the second to take place on Saturday, also at 2:30pm.

The Sea Dogs will skate in two home pre-season contests this year: Monday, September 1 at 7:00pm versus P.E.I. and Saturday, September 6 at 7:30pm versus Acadie-Bathrust. Tickets to both games are on sale now at the Harbour Station Box Office (657-1234). Regular Season single-game tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, September 6 at 10:00am.

Season Tickets to the Sea Dogs' 2008-2009 campaign are on sale now. Information on all ticketing options, including flex packs, flex combos, and full season packages can be obtained by calling the team office at (506) 657-DOGS (3647).
