@ G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium

LHP Brian Holliday (5-10, 5.23) vs. LHP Ross Detwiler (7-8, 4.84)

THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg pounded Potomac 13-5 last night in the middle game of a three-game series at Pfitzner Stadium...The win secured tow series victories on this road trip in which the Hillcats have gone 4-1...Tonight is the final game of a six-game road trip, the final scheduled road trip of the season for the Cats...

VS. POTOMAC: The P-Nats are 10-9 against the Cats this year and are 4-5 at home...The Hillcats were just 5-14 against the Nationals in 2007...Lynchburg holds the all-time series edge 140-136...After starting the season 0-5 against Potomac, the Hillcats snapped a 14-game losing streak to the Nationals on May 28th and stopped a nine-game skid at the Pfitz...They have now won four in a row over the P-Nats and five out of six...The Cats are 64-69 against the Nats in Woodbridge...Lynchburg has ensured a season series loss to four Carolina League teams and tonight they try and finish their series with the Nats with a split...

PHAT AT THE PFITZ: With their 13-5 victory last night Lynchburg has now won three games in a row at Pfitzner Stadium to improve to 5-4 at the home of the Nationals...The Hillcats have already guaranteed that their best road record in 2008 will be against the P-Nats...

ROLLING ON THE ROAD: Lynchburg secured back-to-back road series for the first time since June 6th-11th...That was the only time this season they had won two straight road series...The Hillcats entered this road trip with a 12-game road losing skid and had lost 15 out of their last 16 to drop to 21-43 (.328 winning percentage) away from the Hill City...Their series win against Frederick was their first road series victory since June 29-July 1st when they took two out of three from Wilmington at Frawley Stadium...

NEAR FLAWLESS TRIP: In the first five games of this road trip the Hillcat have committed just one error...When they went error less in the first three games it marked the first time all season the Cats had gone three consecutive games without an error...

SPARKLING STARTS: Over this road trip the starters have gone a combined 3-0 with a 1.97 ERA (seven earned runs in 32 innings)...RHP Matt McSwain earned his first victory as a Hillcat last night, LHP Tony Watson did not allow an earned run on Friday night, RHP Brad Lincoln had his best start as a Cat allowing just one run and striking out seven and LHP Brian Holliday pitched a season-high eight innings and struckout a season-high nine batters in the win on Tuesday...

SHOT AT A SWEEP: Lynchburg has a chance to earn their first road sweep of the season tonight in game three of this set with Potomac...The Hillcats have just one sweep on the year when they took three games from Salem July 2nd-4th at City Stadium...The Cats did not have a chance to go for a road sweep this season until Thursday night after they won the first two games of the series at Frederick...They have now secured back-to-back series wins after going 1-9-2 in their last 12 series...The only series win over that stretch was over Potomac at City Stadium...Last season Lynchburg had two road sweeps, both at Fredrick (the last one was July 11th-14th)...All three sweeps the Cats had last year were against the Keys...

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE::LF Jared Keel hammered two home runs in the Lynchburg win last night...It was his second multi-homer game of the season, the fifth of his career and it was the fifth time this season a Hillcat has accomplished the feat...Keel now has 18 home runs which matches the most by a Hillcat this year (Jamie Romak), ties him for third in the league and gives him two more home runs than his previous career-high of 16 long balls last season...

WERE GOING STREAKING: SS Brian Friday and INF Jose De Los Santos both extended their current hit streaks to seven games with hits last night...Friday is batting 10-for-30 (.333) with two doubles, a homer, seven runs, four RBI and four walks in those seven games....Over that same stretch De Los Santos has gone 11-for-29 (.379) with a double, a triple, four runs scored and three RBI...Friday has scored a run in six straight games...1B Kent Sakamoto is also riding a six-game hitting streak and over that time he is 9-for-22 (.409) with two doubles, a homer, seven runs scored and three RBI...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Ross Detwiler was selected in the first round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft by Washington with the sixth overall selection out of Missouri State University...As a Bear he went 4-5 with a 2.22 ERA his final season (89.0 ip, 22 er, 110 k)...He made his professional debut last season with the GCL Nationals (rookie) and had no decisions with a 2.25 ERA in four starts...Detwiler then progressed to Potomac and went 2-2 with a 4.22 ERA in five games (four starts)...He finished his campaign with Washington at the Major League level where he pitched one scoreless inning in his only appearance...This season he has been back with the P-Nats and has gone 7-8 with a 4.84 ERA in 24 starts...He has made two starts against Lynchburg and has gone 0-2 with 8.00 ERA (eight earned runs in nine innings)...The six earned runs he allowed against the Cats on June 4th are the most he has allowed this season in a start...
