
Richar Sent to Reds

FORT MILL, S.C. - July 31, 2008 - Charlotte Knights infielder Danny Richar was traded to the Cincinnati Reds organization today as part of a trade that send White Sox pitcher and former Knight Nick Masset to the Reds for outfielder Ken Griffey Jr.
Richar appeared in 62 games with the Knights as he hit .262 (65-248) with 9 home runs and 39 RBI's. Richar also holds the Knights record for most consecutive games reaching base safely at 37 (2007-08). He was acquired by the White Sox in June of 2007 from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Richar is expected to join Triple-A Louisville.
Masset made 11 appearances with the Knights last season, including 9 starts going 0-4 with a 4.57 ERA. Masset is expected to join the Reds starting rotation.
The Knights have not made a corresponding move to fill Richar's roster spot. The Knights roster currently sits with 23 active players
