-SPIKES GO FOR SECOND SERIES WIN: The Spikes host the Tri-City ValleyCats in the rubber match of a three-game set tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The all-time series is even at four games apiece, with Tri-City having won three of the five games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST NIGHT: Cole White extended his hit streak to 13 games, but the Spikes fell to Tri-City, 5-2. White's two hits now bring his average on the year to .379. Quincy Latimore hit his third triple of the year to center field, and scored on a wild pitch. For Tri-City, Phil Disher and David Flores each sent solo home runs over the fence. Disher's home run to lead off the second inning was his sixth of the year, good for second in the NYPL.

-ORTIZ MAKES SECOND START: Right-hander Ryan Kelly takes the mound to start for State College. In his last outing, Kelly went two scoreless innings to start a shutout win against Brooklyn. On the year, Kelly has a 2.25 ERA in his two appearances at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, and has held left-handed hitters to a .190 average. The ValleyCats had four left-handed hitters in their lineup last night.

-VALLEYCATS CONTINUE SOUTHPAW ATTACK: Left-hander Shane Wolf completes the trifecta of southpaw starters for Tri-City in this series. Wolf is making his sixth start of the year, and has gone at least five innings in each of his last three starts. The Ithaca College alum was the 26th round draft choice of the Astros. In 22 innings pitched, Wolf has 19 strikeouts to three walks, and has allowed hitters a .232 average.

-WHITE SETTING THE TABLE: In addition to his 13-game hitting streak and .379 average, Cole White has sparked the Spikes offense by hitting .400 exactly (18-for-45) since occupying the leadoff role. White also has a.440 on-base percentage in games he has led off. The West Point alum also improved his performance against lefties in this series from below .250 to above .350.
