
Texeira added to 2008 Carolina League All-Star team

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - It took a dramatic pause, but Kanekoa Texeira has been added to the Carolina League All-Star team. Texeira, who resides in Maui, Hawaii, will be spending the All-Star break on different sands when the Carolina and California Leagues square off at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on June 23-25.
Texeira, who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 22nd round of the 2006 draft, was the anchor of the Winston-Salem bullpen in the first half of the season, going 2-0 with a 1.44 ERA and 12 saves in 23 relief appearances. Opponents have hit just .216 against the burly right-hander. He joins Warthogs first baseman Brandon Allen as Winston-Salem representatives for the 2008 Carolina League All-Star team.
Texeira, Allen and all the Carolina League's best will face off versus the California League All-Stars in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Tuesday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m., gates open at 5 p.m. For tickets, call 843-918-6000.
