Chicago Sky And Pitney Bowes Joing Forces To Raise Money For Reading Is Fundamental Program

CHICAGO - The WNBA Chicago Sky and Pitney Bowes are coming together to raise literacy awareness through a special "Fast Break to Reading" ticket offer that will raise money for Chicago's Reading Is Fundamental program. The WNBA and Pitney Bowes are working with six teams around the country, including Chicago, on a special group ticket initiative that will raise money for reading organizations and ultimately offer one WNBA team the chance to win a new Reading and Learning Center.
In support of this initiative, the Chicago Sky is offering special "Fast Break to Reading" tickets for five select Chicago Sky home games. Depending on the ticket purchased, a portion of the purchase price will be donated to Reading Is Fundamental to support Chicago's local RIF programs, which provide books and literacy services to over 40,000 children each year. In addition to donating a portion of the proceeds, the Sky will also be participating in a competition with other WNBA teams throughout the season to win a refurbished Reading and Learning Center for a local Chicago Reading Is Fundamental program.
The Sky home games offering "Fast Break to Reading" tickets are:
- Friday, June 13: Chicago vs. Washington at 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, July 10: Chicago vs. San Antonio at 6:00 p.m.
- Sunday, July 13: Chicago vs. Atlanta at 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 22: Chicago vs. Indiana at 7:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 9: Chicago vs. Washington at 7:00 p.m.
For each of these games, the Sky will also donate 100 tickets to children from Reading Is Fundamental, along with special Sky T-shirts for the game. These 100 sponsored children will have the opportunity to attend select pre-game Reading Time Out events where Sky players will read to the youth and speak about the importance of reading. The Sky will also host post-game autograph sessions at select games for the 100 children, and each child will receive an autograph from Sky players.

On these select game days, Sky fans who are not part of the Fast Break to Reading group can still help the Sky win the new Reading and Learning Center by making donations on the concourse at a specially-marked Pitney Bowes station.
The Sky is one of seven independently-owned teams in the WNBA, the world's longest-running women's professional sports league. The Sky celebrated its inaugural season in 2006, and finished a successful sophomore season with a 14-20 record and guard Armintie Price named WNBA Rookie of the Year.
