MOBILE, Ala. - Left-hander Brae Wright was solid from the start as he blanked the BayBears through eight innings, pacing the Huntsville Stars to an 8-0 victory at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Huntsville's (33-21) dominating offense used the long ball to score seven of their eight runs against BayBears (22-32) starter Hector Ambriz (2-7). In the third, the Stars got on the board with a sac fly from shortstop Alcides Escobar. Two batters later, BayBear killer Angel Salome smacked a three-run homer to push the Stars' lead to 4-0.

First baseman Chris Errecart led off the fourth inning with a home run while Huntsville hit two more out of the yard in the seventh as Michael Brantley and Mat Gamel joined the fray. With his two runs batted in, Gamel tied his teammate, Matt LaPorta, for the league lead with 46.

Wright (3-5) kept the BayBear hitters off balance all night with his steady slider. He struck out five while walking only one. The BayBears never had a runner reach second base. Forrest Cory replaced Ambriz on the mound after Gamel's homer in the seventh and was solid for 2.2 innings as he gave up just one hit.

Matt Torra (4-4, 2.45) goes to the bump for the BayBears on Friday night at 7:05 as they battle the Stars in the rubber game of their five-game series at Hank Aaron Stadium. For tickets, call (251) 479-BEAR or log on to www.mobilebaybears.com.
