Tulsa Drillers News Release

Midland first baseman Tommy Everidge (pictured) had a Memorial Day Monday afternoon at Drillers Stadium that he will not soon forget. Everidge hit three home runs and totaled ten runs batted in as the RockHounds defeated the Drillers 17-6.

Everidge, a 10th round draft pick of the Oakland A's in 2004, hit a 3-run homer in the fourth inning, a grand slam in the sixth and another 3-run shot in the seventh. The 10 RBI's were a Drillers Stadium record, topping the 9 that Tulsa outfielder Craig Monroe totaled on April 8, 2000. The three homers tied a stadium record.

Everidge missed a chance to add to his big day when he flied out to left field in the ninth inning against Drillers infielder Duke Sardinha.

Monday's result left Tulsa with only one win in its six-game homestand that ended with the loss. The Drillers were swept in a three-game series by Frisco and won only one of three games with Midland.

The Drillers averaged scoring just over 6 runs a game in the 1-5 homestand, but they surrendered over 10 runs a game.

The finale began as a pitcher's dual between starters Tomas Santiago and Ryan Webb, but it ended with a big 5-run fourth inning by Midland. After allowing only one hit through the first three innings, Santiago surrendered five straight hits to begin the fourth.

Nick Blasi and Jesus Guzman began the inning with consecutive singles. Former Driller Joe Gaetti followed with a ground-rule double to bring home the game's first run. After Jon Zeringue plated Guzman with a run-scoring single, Everidge made it 5-0 with the first of his three home runs. Following the homer, Santiago retired Anthony Recker before sailing a pitch over the head of Brian Snyder. Home plate umpire Stephen Barga promptly ejected Santiago, and then, after a brief argument, Tulsa manager Stu Cole. It was the third ejection in the past two games for the Drillers.

Matt Miller got the Drillers on the board with his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth that cut Midland's lead to 5-1.

The RockHounds answered with another 5-run inning in the top of the fifth. Guzman began the frame with a solo homer, and Recker added a two-run double. All five runs were charged to reliever Jonathan George.

Jeff Dragicevich homered for the second straight game and for the third time in Tulsa's six-game homestand in the bottom of the fifth. The solo shot cleared the net above the left field wall and made the score 10-2.

Midland produced their third big inning of the game with four runs in the sixth, all scoring on Everidge's grand slam homer.

The Drillers put up four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth off reliever Scott Moore. Daniel Carte had a two-run single, and Justin Nelson a two-run double. Nelson's hit just missed clearing the wall in deep center field.

Everidge then capped his big day in the seventh inning. After Guzman walked and Gaetti singled, Everidge belted a pitch from Casey Weathers high over the wall in left center field for his third round-tripper of the game.

Everidge's showing overshadowed a productive day for Gaetti. The designated hitter also hit safely four times.

The Drillers will have a day off Tuesday before beginning a 6-game road trip Wednesday night in Frisco. Alan Johnson (1-6, 6.15 ERA) will start the opener for Tulsa with first pitch at 7:05PM.
