Peterson leads Rock Cats to 10-inning win

New Britain, CT - Brock Peterson went 4-for-6 with three RBI and saved the best for last - an RBI single in the bottom of the tenth that gave the 'Cats a 7-6 win on Wednesday night. The victory extends the Rock Cats winning streak to nine games, which ties a franchise record.

Steve Tolleson started off the inning with a single to left field. He advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Dustin Martin and moved to third on a stolen base. Peterson then lined a single to right field that scored Tolleson for the winning run. Tolleson also slugged a solo homer in the eighth inning that tied the game, 6-6 and forced extra innings.

Bowie's Freddie Bynum led off the first inning with a home run to give the Bay Sox a 1-0 lead. The Rock Cats answered back in the bottom of the inning. Luke Hughes reached base on a high fly ball that dropped in between three fielders for a single. The single extended his hitting streak to 16 games. Martin followed with a bunt single. Hughes moved up to third on a wild pitch before Peterson knocked in both runners with a double to center field for a 2-1 advantage.

The Bay Sox' Brian Peterson's RBI double in the fourth tied the game, 2-2. Bowie then broke out for three runs in the fifth, including a two-run double by Ryan Finan that gave Bowie a 5-2 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, Brock Peterson led off with a single and moved to third on a double by Erik Lis. Peterson scored on Trevor Plouffe's ground out and Lis scored on an RBI single by Felix Molina that cut the lead, 5-4.

Erik Lis was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Rock Cats. He also scored two runs. Armando Gabino (3-1, 0.93) picked up the win with two scoreless innings in relief.

Gerardo Casadiego (0-3, 4.95) suffered the loss for the Bay Sox.

Hughes, who crashed into the center field wall catching Luis Montanez' long fly ball and began a relay throw that doubled off Mike Rodriguez at first base in the first inning, fouled a ball off his foot in the third inning. He left the game after three innings.
