Smokies Win Big Over Chattanooga, 15-7

Chattanooga, TN -The Tennessee Smokies (13-20) scored 11 unanswered runs between the seventh and ninth innings combined and win in a blowout, 15-7 over Chattanooga at AT&T Field, in front of 3,248 Wednesday.

Tennessee pounded out 12 hits with a season high 15 runs off four different Lookouts pitchers. Matt Camp, Tyler Colvin, Robinson Chirinos and Doug Deeds all had two hits and runs scored each in the win. Spears, Tyler Colvin and Steve Clevenger drove in a total of three RBI's apiece on the day.

Mark Holliman made his first Smokies start after beginning the year in Iowa. He would last only 3 innings on the mound, yielding six hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts. Holliman was relieved by Matt Avery with Tennessee trailing 3-2.

Avery would pitch the next three Smokies innings, yielding two homeruns and four total scores. He allowed five hits, with no walks, and two strikeouts. Avery (1-0) was the winning pitcher in relief, after Tennessee turned a 7-4 deficit into a 9-7 lead, scoring five seventh innings runs.

Greg Reinhard took over on the hill with the Smokies ahead by two runs in the bottom of the seventh. He would cruise through 3 innings to record the games save his second of the season. Reinhard gave up one hit and no runs with one strikeout.

The Smokies continue the series Thursday, and will start James Russell (0-0), while Chattanooga counters with James Avery (0-0).Tennessee returns to Smokies Park on Saturday, May 10, to face the Huntsville Stars.
