THE HILLCATS: The Cats were held to one hit in an 8-1 loss to the Hogs last night at City Stadium to even up this three-game series at a game a piece...The Cats are now 3-5 on this current stretch of 13 games in a row at home, the longest homestand in Hillcats history after playing 17 of their first 23 on the road...Tonight's rubbermatch will mark the 23rd game played against the Southern Division out of the first 32 contests in 2008...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: Last season the Warthogs won the season series against the Hillcats 11-8...The Cats still hold the all-time advantage 139-124 and are 77-56 against the Hogs at City Stadium...

HIT BY THE BIG INNING: This homestand the Hillcats have allowed four or more runs in an inning five times in eight games...Four of those frames have turned a Lynchburg lead into a deficit and the Cats have lost four of those five contests...

BOOTING THE BALL: With their three errors committed last night the Hillcats now have committed a league-high 46 errors and have allowed more unearned runs (35) than anyone else in the Carolina League...

TROUBLE WITH SOUTHPAWS: This season Lynchburg is 12-12 against righthanders and just 1-6 when a lefthander starts against them...

INCREDIBLE START: 3B Jim Negrych entered the day first in the league in hits (46) by 13, batting average (.400), tied for first in RBI (22), second in on-base percentage (.457) and second in runs scored (22)...The former sixth round pick from 2006 has recorded 17 multi-hit games in 29 starts this season and he is hitting an astonishing .526 (20-for-38) with men in scoring position...

FLYING OUT OF THE YARD: On Saturday night a combined five home runs were hit between the Hillcats and Indians, a season-high for a Cats game this season...The three home runs Lynchburg hit were the most in a game this season and the Cats have now knocked eleven home runs in their last 15 games after only hitting three home runs in their first 16 games...

BACK WITH THE BOOM: OF Jamie Romak made his 2008 debut on Friday night and went 2-for-5 with a double and on Saturday night he clubbed his first home run of the season...Last season Romak led all Hillcats with 15 home runs in 85 games played...The 2003 fourth round draft pick of the the Atlanta Braves was acquired by the Pirates in a trade in 2007...He was assigned to Lynchburg from extended spring training last Friday...

HITTING STRIDE: INF/OF Eddie Prasch extended his season-high hitting streak to twelve games on Monday night with his 1-for-4 performance...The 2004 third round draft pick of the Pirates has hit .341 (15-for-44) over that stretch...He now has the longest hitting streak by a Hillcat this season...

CHANGING THINGS UP: Baseball America said LHP Tony Watson has the "Best Changeup" in the Pirates minor league system...The ninth round selection in the 2007 struckout 58 batters in 67.2 ip and walked just eight...

TOP PROSPECTS: Three of the Pirates' top 30 prospects from Baseball America are beginning the year with the Hillcats...LHP Daniel Moskos (#5) posted a combined ERA of 3.45 in 13 appearances with no decisions and one save with the GCL Pirates and the State College Spikes...LHP Tony Watson (#11) went 6-1 with a 2.52 ERA in 10 starts in State College prior to a late season call-up to Hickory...Watson was named to the New York-Penn League mid-season All-Star team...INF Brian Friday (#12) batted .295 with two home runs and 13 RBI for State College in 40 games...
