May 3, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

LHP Cory VanAllen and RHP Zech Zinicola were officially added to the Senators roster from Potomac today. RHP Bobby Brownlie was promoted to Columbus and RHP Ismael Ramirez was placed on the Disabled List retroactive to April 30.

VanAllen, 23, has been dominant this season in the Carolina League. In five appearances (four starts) for Potomac, he was 3-0 with an ERA of 0.66. VanAllen didn't allow an earned run in his last three starts (18 innings) for the P-Nats. Prior to this season, he was 5-14 with a 4.41 ERA.

VanAllen was selected by the Dodgers out of high school in the third round of the 2003 draft, but did not sign. He instead opted to go to Baylor University, where he played three seasons (2004-06). Baylor made a College World Series appearance in 2005. The Nationals snapped VanAllen up in the 5th round of the 2006 draft. This is his first appearance above Advanced-A.

Zinicola, 23, was virtually untouchable for Potomac this year prior to his promotion. He went 2-0 with 3 saves and didn't allow a run in 12.1 innings. Zinicola gave up just three hits and three walks while striking out 15. The Arizona State University product was selected by the Nationals in the 6th round of the 2006 draft. He pitched for Harrisburg in each of the last two seasons, including all of 2007. In his career, Zinicola is 1-5 with a 5.05 ERA at Double-A.

Brownlie, 27, went 4-0 with a 2.83 ERA in six starts for the Senators. He was a first-round pick by the Cubs in the 2002 draft.
