TODAY'S GAME AT A GLANCE: The Pelicans go for the series win tonight in the rubber game against the Salem Avalanche. The Pelicans took game one in convincing fashion 13-1 and come up short in game two 5-4 in10 innings. Last night, the Pelicans stormed back from a 4-2 deficit heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. Yohan Silva contributed a big triple to cut the lead to one. Then, the Pelicans were aided by back-to-back defensive mistakes to send the game to extra innings. In the 10th, Jordan Parraz hit a solo home run off of Pelicans' reliever Nick Fellman, which turned out to be the game winner.

Tonight is the 3rd Annual Pink Ribbon Night at BB&T Coastal Field to benefit Caring In Our Lifetime. The first 2,000 women through the gates will receive a Pink Baseball Bracelet. In addition, the Pelicans will wear special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game.

TODAY'S STARTING PITCHERS: Right-hander Kyle Cofield makes his fifth overall start and fourth at home for Myrtle Beach. He will be opposed by right-hander Casey Hudspeth, making his fifth start of the season and fourth on the road.

Cofield: Enters his fifth start of the season searching for his first win. The 6'5" righty has allowed at-least two runs in each of his four starts. His best start came against the Winston-Salem Warthogs (4/16) when he pitched a season-high six innings allowing four hits while striking out five. In 18 total innings, he has allowed 19 hits and 11 runs.

The Rainbow City, Alabama native was drafted in the eighth round of the 2005 draft by the Braves. Has made a steady climb to the Advanced-A level; Gulf Coast League ('05), Appalachian League('06), South Atlantic League ('07) and currently Carolina League ('08).

Hudspeth: Enters his fifth start of the year looking to return to form after a mediocre start in his last outing against the Kinston Indians (4/21). In only 3.2 innings, he surrendered six hits and four runs, while walking six. In 19.0 innings pitched this year, he has allowed a high total of 29hits.

A native of Sarasota, Florida, Hudspeth was drafted in the fifth round of the 2006 draft by the Astros.

HERNANDEZ HURT: CF Gorkys Hernandez suffered a hamstring injury in the bottom of the eighth inning of Wednesday night's game against Lynchburg as he turned around second base heading towards third. He left the game with the help of Trainer Greg Hall. Hernandez is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

HICKS HEALTHY: Pelicans shortstop Brandon Hicks returned to the starting lineup on April 22nd after nearly 11 days away. Hicks was battling a nagging quadricep injury. The last time he had played was on April 11th (home opener). Hicks has wasted no time establishing himself as a force in the two-hole, going 6-for-16 since his return with two home runs, five RBIs, and five runs scored. Hicks is rated by Baseball America as the 14th best prospect in the Braves' organization.

MMM...BUT NO BOP: Right-hander Tommy Hanson has been the most dominant pitcher in the Carolina League through his first five starts. His historic run continued Thursday night as he worked seven innings of one-run ball, conceding just four hits to win for the third time (3-0). Hanson currently leads the Carolina League in ERA (0.31) strike outs (38) and innings pitched (29.0). The one run he allowed to Salem was the first earned run he has allowed this season, and snapped his personal streak at 28 1/3 innings.The 21-year old has permitted just nine hits this season.
