AUSTIN, TX (April 18, 2008) - The Austin Toros continue their quest for the NBA D-League Championship Saturday night at the Austin Convention Center at 7 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the franchise's first ever playoff game.
The Toros finished the regular season with the best record in franchise history at 30-20 and won the Southwest Division title. Six Toros players have received GATORADE Call-Ups to NBA teams including the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers this season. Marcus Williams (Los Angeles) and DerMarr Johnson (San Antonio) received contracts for the remainder of the 2007-08 season.
"The playoffs are a very exciting time of year - the success of the team says a lot about the type of players we have and especially the core guys who have been here all year," Austin Toros head coach Quin Snyder said. "This is an opportunity for the entire team to step up again."
Austin is 2-0 this season against the Skyforce. The winner of the match-up will face the Idaho Stampede in the Finals set for next week as Idaho defeated Los Angeles 97-90 on Friday night in game one of the second round of the D-League Playoffs presented by Delta.
