Brendan Ryan Assigned to Springfield, Home Stand Opens Thursday

The St. Louis Cardinals have assigned Infielder Brendan Ryan to the Springfield Cardinals' roster, as he'll continue his minor league rehab assignment. Ryan, who has played for the Palm Beach Cardinals of the Florida State League for the last few days, is on the Disabled List for what is being diagnosed as a right rib cage irritation.
Ryan was part of the Springfield Cardinals inaugural team in 2005, then again in 2006. Ryan made his major league debut last year, batting .289 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 67 games for the Cardinals at the big league level.
Ryan is expected to be on Springfield's active roster for the upcoming four-game home stand at Hammons Field, as the Cardinals host the Tulsa Drillers, beginning Thursday night.
2,500 fans ages 21 and over will receive a FREE Cardinals' Jersey T-Shirt on Thursday, thanks to Wil Fischer and Bud Light. Help us celebrate 1982, the year the Cards won their ninth World Championship and the year Bud Light was born! Gates open at 6:10pm and game time is 7:10pm.
On Friday night, it's another AM Pyrotechnics Friday Night Fireworks Extravaganza, as everyone will enjoy post-game Fireworks! Game time is 7:10pm.
Saturday afternoon, 2,500 fans will receive a FREE Green Cardinals Cap, thanks to our friends at Empire Bank! Gates open on Saturday at 1:10pm and game time is 2:10pm.
On Sunday afternoon, the home stand wraps up with another Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Sunday, as kids will receive FREE ice cream treats thanks to Hiland Dairy before the game. Kids will also "Run the Bases" thanks to the Killian Group of Companies. Game time on Sunday is 2:10pm and gates open at 1:10pm.

The Cardinals (3-9) have won back-to-back games for the first time all year and are still just two games behind first place Tulsa. The Cards and Drillers will meet in a four-game series when the Cardinals return to Hammons Field on Thursday. Clayton Mortensen (0-1) takes on Tulsa right-hander Ching-Lung Lo at 7:10pm on Thursday night.
