Nuts Win Season Opener Against Ports

The Modesto Nuts traveled to Stockton last night and defeated the Ports 3-2 in the first game of the 2008 season. Center fielder Anthony Jackson led the offensive attack with three hits. Starting pitcher Esmil Rogers picked up his first win of the season. Reliever David Patton threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings and closer Andrew Johnston notched his first save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Nuts Home Opener on Monday!

The Modesto Nuts will host the San Jose Giants on Monday at 7:05 p.m. Entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. Opening Night presented by Costco Wholesale will be a night to remember as we feature live music, face painters, fireworks and more! Local musicians Johnny and Kelly will be performing pre-game on the east side of the ballpark. Local jazz musicians Jazzoni featuring Mary Boutte will be performing on the west side prior to first pitch.
