
Clippers Unveil Opening Day Roster

Columbus Clippers News Release
Columbus, OH - The Columbus Clippers have released the roster for the 2008 opening day roster. The Clippers will welcome back eleven players from their 2007 ball club. The season opener is Thursday at Cooper Stadium at 7:05 PM vs.. Charlotte.
The roster features 16 players who have major league service.
Collin Balester is the youngest Clipper (21) and Bret Boone is the oldest (39). Only three players have no previous Triple-A experience (OF Garrett Guzman and C Patrick Nichols and RHP Garrett Mock).
The Clippers active roster stands at 23.
Columbus' active roster:
Pitchers (11):Mike Bacsik, Collin Balester, Tyler Clippard, John Lannan, Charlie Manning, Garrett Mock, Mike O'Connor, Brian Sanches, Steven Shell, Jason Stanford, Dennis Tankersley.
Catchers (2): Wil Nieves, Patrick Nichols.
Infielders (5): Tony Batista, Bret Boone, Larry Broadway, Pete Orr, Ray Olmedo.
Outfielders (4): Kory Casto, Jason DuBois, Alex Escobar, Garrett Guzman, Ryan Langerhans.
Italics indicates returnee; Bold indicates Major League experience. Wil Nieves and Charlie Manning return to the Clippers. Nieves caught for Columbus in 2005-06 and Manning pitched for the Clippers from 2004-06.
