
Former Richmond Kickers Future midfielder Adrian Bumbut Signs Pro Contract

Richmond, VA - (Thursday, March 20, 2008) - The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the addition of former Richmond Kickers Future midfielder Adrian Bumbut to the 2008 pro roster, pending USSF and visa approval. Specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"Adrian is a very entertaining forward who will bring plenty of pace, energy and creativity to our front line," comments Richmond Kickers Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw. "We have followed his progress ever since his impressive displays for Liberty and the Kickers Future and I was delighted when he agreed to sign."
Selected by the Chicago Fire in the second round of the 2008 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft in January, Adrian joins the Kickers roster upon graduating from Liberty University. A native of Zalau, Romania, Adrian helped lead Liberty to its first-ever Big South Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Men's College Soccer Cup his senior season. He completed his career ranked fourth on the Liberty all-time points list with 79, while tying for fourth on the school's all-time goals list with 32. Additionally, he garnered All-Big South first team, VaSID All-State first team and All-South Atlantic Region second team honors after finishing tied for second in the Big South Conference with 29 points, leading Liberty for the third consecutive year.
Adrian spent the 2006 season with the Richmond Kickers Future of the Premier Development League while attending Liberty University. He registered four goals, good for second on the team, in 10 appearances with the Future before joining the Fredericksburg Generals the following season. He concluded the 2007 season second on the squad in goals (5) and points (12), earning PDL All-Eastern Conference team honors.
