The Albuquerque Isotopes built an early lead, but were unable to hold on, falling to the New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, 9-4 today in Spring Training action at Jupiter, Florida. The ‘Topes' Spring record now stands at 1-2.

Infielder Andrew Beattie, who hit 13 home runs in 74 games for Albuquerque last year, went 2-for-2 with two singles and an RBI, while outfielder Lee Mitchell continued his hot Spring with a two-out RBI double in the fifth that gave the ‘Topes a short-lived 3-0 lead.

Catcher Brad Davis also collected two hits, a double and a single, while driving in a run in the losing effort.

Albuquerque will take to the road tomorrow for its first game away from the Roger Dean Sports Complex when the club heads up I-95 to Vero Beach to take on the Las Vegas 51s, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 2008 Isotopes season begins on April 3, with the home opener slated for April 11, when the ‘Topes host the Oklahoma RedHawks, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
