Bruins Year End Award Winners Announced

Chilliwack BC - Last night, the Chilliwack Bruins held their second annual Mr. Mike's Steakhouse and Bar Awards Night. Here is a summary of the Bruins award winners and sponsored awards:

Sportzone Player of the Month - February: Nick Holden. Holden scored seven goals and 10 assists in the month of February and currently leads the WHL in goals scored by a defenseman with 20 on the season.

Tunnicliffe Memorial Award for Scholastic Achievement: David Robinson. Robinson also receives a $1000 scholarship as the player who demonstrated the best scholastic attributes on the Bruins.

Wayne Massey Remax Top Scorer: Mark Santorelli. Santorelli currently is 2nd in league scoring with 94 points this season, which eclipses his team record of 82 set last season. No player has scored more points in the WHL in the last two seasons than Mark Santorelli.

Rinkside Bear Award: David Robinson. Robinson wins this award, presented to the Bruin who best exhibits persistence, grit and leadership.

Canex Building Supplies Three Star Award: Oscar Moller. Moller wins this award presented to the Bruin who has the most three star selections this season.

Bruins Alumni Most Improved Player: Liam Darragh. Darragh suited up for just 15 games last season. This year, Liam has appeared in 57 games and has been a contributor throughout the season.

Sports & Stuff Unsung Hero: Brandon Campos. Campos is a key member of the Bruins this year and has established career highs in goals, assists and points this season since being acquired from Everett.

Manning Park Resort Most Community Minded: Dylan Chapman. Chapman has been unselfish in donating his spare time visiting the Chilliwack Hospital as well as sitting in on many of the Books with the Bruins tours to local schools.

On-Side Restoration Most Dedicated Player: Mark Santorelli. Santorelli demonstrates both on and off the ice an elite level of dedication to the game as well as his teammates and coaches.

Subway Fresh Face Rookie Award: Jeff Einhorn. Einhorn has demonstrated that even if you aren't drafted or sought after, you can still make things happen. A walk-on to training camp this season, Einhorn instantly made an impression and with Nick Holden forms a shutdown pair on defense.

Bruins Kid's Club Top Defenseman: Nick Holden. Holden wins this award for the second straight season and has established himself as one of the elite defenders in the WHL. Nick is 3rd in league scoring and also has a +2 rating this season even though he faces the top opposition line night in and night out.

Rogers Wireless Fan Favorite: Oscar Moller. Moller wins this fan voted award as the most exciting player.

Otto Mammel MVP Award: Nick Holden and Oscar Moller: Holden and Moller demonstrate on a nightly basis how truly valuable they are to the team, both on the ice and in the dressing room.

Chilliwack Bruins Graduation Awards: Dylan Chapman, Brandon Campos and Nick Holden. This trio of 20 year olds will graduate from the WHL this season and were recognized by General Manager Darrell May for their service to the team.

Chilliwack Bruins President's Award: Andrew Franklin - Chilliwack Progress. Mr. Franklin has been recognized by Team President Darryl Porter for his over and above relationship with the Bruins and his abilities to adapt his business to help the Bruins get their message to the community.

The Bruins wrap up their season with four games this week. Wednesday they visit the Kelowna Rockets before home games on Friday versus Kamloops and Saturday versus Everett. The Bruins will then close their season with a date against the Vancouver Giants on Sunday at the Pacific Coliseum.
