Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

To build on the best attendance in 15 years in 2007, the B-Mets promise fans "The Greatest Show on Dirt" this season with the official unveiling of the team's promotional schedule. The entertainment lineup features the largest combination of fireworks, premium giveaways, mascot appearances, weekly specials and theme nights in franchise history.

Fireworks lead the way with 24 scheduled post-game displays, starting off on Opening Night (Thursday, April 3rd) for the first time in 17 years. Weekly promotions like the Two for Tuesday Drink Specials (10 dates), Friends & Family 4-Pack (4 tickets, 4 hot dogs & 4 Cokes for only $24--15 dates including all Wednesdays plus Saturdays in April & May), Thirsty Thursdays (9 dates) & Kids Eat Free Family Fun Days (11 Sundays) highlight more than half of the team's home schedule. Each Friday home date will kick off with the all new Happy Hour at the Hive featuring early admission (gates open at 5 pm), drink specials and live local music.

B-Mets souvenirs remain a hot commodity among the fans, so the promotional schedule is chocked full of giveaway items. It all starts with the home opener & free schedule magnets (4/3) and continues with Vintage Baseball Card Sets (4/5), Earth Day Baseballs (4/20), Pink Visors (5/4), Kids' Baseball Gloves (5/24), Youth Replica Jerseys (6/28), Groucho Marx Nose/Glasses (7/4), Adult T-Shirts (7/20), Dog Dishes (7/30), Camouflage Caps (8/7), Back to School Notebooks (8/10), Beer Steins (8/20) & Team Photos (8/24).

Bobblehead-mania is alive and well, but the B-Mets introduce a new twist with the fans' choice of a bobblehead giveaway this season. Shortly, the team will launch a contest that allows the fans to vote for their favorite character or person. Early candidates include Buddy the Bee and Ballwinkle, the team's mascots; Steve Kraly, the team's official scorer and pitcher on the 1953 World Champion New York Yankees; longtime fan Mike Rubino known to most as "Jingles" the dancing fan; and the team's Stadium Operations Director & U.S. Army Captain Richard Tylicki, currently serving his second tour of duty in the Middle East. The top vote getter in this election will have his custom bobblehead giveaway on August 24th.

Kids of all ages love to meet famous and/or fuzzy characters and the schedule is packed with the following: Shrek, Super Heroes, Wizard of Oz cast, Iron Man, Pink Panther, SpongeBob Squarepants, Purple Dinosaur, Indiana Jones, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Space Ghost, Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat, Star Wars friends, Captain America, Mr. Met, Batman, Disc-Connected K-9's-The World Famous Frisbee Dogs and the Wild West Gang.

Many of these character appearances tie in a special theme with the game as do special edition jerseys worn by the B-Mets players. Fans may be surprised to see the B-Mets wearing pink pinstripes for Breast Cancer Awareness Day (5/4) or patriotic, red, white & blue tops on Memorial Day weekend and on Independence Day. The B-Mets pay tribute to the rich Italian heritage of the Southern Tier with red, white & green jerseys (6/27). Baseball fans also enjoy hockey, so on April 5th & August 22nd, the B-Mets will wear special edition Binghamton Senators-style baseball jerseys.

The B-Mets plan to poke fun at your hairstyles with Bald is Beautiful, Mullet & Moustache Nights. Fans can join in tributes to the late Johnny Hart-the creator of the B.C. comic strip who hailed from Ninevah, Binghamton native Rod Serling of The Twilight Zone fame, U.S. Armed Forces and the next class of inductees into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine. Other themed event nights focus around all things Australian, Motorcycle Madness, Mardi Gras, Star Gazing, Beach Blast, Super Splash Day, St. Patrick's Day in July, High Rollers Casino, Motorsports, 60's Night, 80's Night, Hillbilly Night, Crazy 8's, Hockey Night, Augtoberfest & Valentine's Day in August.
