(York, Pa): The York Revolution has signed former Major League right-handed pitcher Dave Veres, and outfielder Travis Ezi, it was announced today by director of baseball operations Adam Gladstone. The Revs have now officially signed nine players for the 2008 season, including four pitchers with Major League experience.

Veres has spent 10 of his 20 professional seasons in the majors, having pitched with the Houston Astros, Montreal Expos, Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. The 41-year-old owns a 36-35 big league record in 605 games with 95 saves and a 3.44 ERA. He nailed down a career-best 31 saves for the Rockies in 1999, and notched 29 saves for the Cardinals the following season. Veres put together four seasons in the majors with an ERA of 2.85 or lower. He most recently pitched in the Rockies organization at Triple-A Colorado Springs last season.

"Dave really sought us out," commented Gladstone. "He has family in the Gettysburg area and he obviously has interest in getting back to the big leagues. He told us that he doesn't care what role he's used in. He just wants the ball."

Ezi was the Revolution's opening day left-fielder last season. He appeared in 14 games with York before being traded to the Road Warriors, where he emerged as their leadoff hitter and everyday centerfielder. Ezi batted a solid .275 with 10 homeruns, 47 RBI, 74 runs scored, and 28 stolen bases in 97 games after being dealt. The 26-year-old Baltimore native clubbed two of his homeruns against York, including a leadoff round-tripper to open a game at Sovereign Bank Stadium on August 3.

"Travis finished last season very strong and proved he deserves a chance to play with us," said Gladstone. "He brings great defense, world-class speed, and power to the table as a switch-hitter. Chris Hoiles and I talked and we both agreed, we'd much rather have him on our club than have to face him."
