Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has singed defenseman Brian Boulay. In separate transactions, the Royals also (i) placed left wing Joe Zappala on the three-day injured reserve; (ii) placed defenseman Donny Grover on the seven-day injured reserve; and (iii) moved defenseman Mike Salekin from the three-day injured reserve to the thirty-day injured reserve.
Boulay, (6'1"/205 lbs.) (23), who hails from Auburn, Massachusetts, played two games for the Royals last season after completing his collegiate career at Merrimack College. In four seasons at Merrimack, Boulay scored a goal, assisted on four others, and picked up 102 penalty minutes in 92 games. In late March last year, Boulay played for the Royals in back-to-back games in Toledo against the Storm. In the second of those games, a 3-2 shootout loss for Reading, Boulay had two shots on goal and picked up a minor penalty.
The Royals return to action tonight in Pensacola, Florida where the team will take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Game time is 8:05 pm eastern time. The game night broadcast begins with the pre-game warm-up show at 7:35 pm eastern time. Royals game night broadcasts can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1240 am, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay-per-view basis through the B2 Networks. The Royals' home opener is on Saturday, November 3, 2007, against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
