Rodeo Queen To Visit Friday

Brandon, Manitoba - The Wheat Kings are pleased to announce that a 15-year old rodeo queen from western Manitoba will be visiting Westman Place on Friday night, to perform the national anthem before the Western Hockey League game between Brandon and Lethbridge.

A grade 10 student at Cartwright School, Ali Mullin arrives in Brandon as Manitoba's High School Rodeo Queen.

A big sports fan, Ali keeps herself busy throughout the year playing hockey, fastball and track and field. As well, she's active in a number of rodeo events including barrel racing and breakaway roping. In fact, she attend High School Nationals and Canadians in breakaway roping in 2006.

In 2006, Ali was a member of the Central Manitoba Youth Choir, she's a four-year member of Provincial Honour Choirs and won the Rose Bowl Award at this year's Rock Lake Festival of the Arts. The local 4-H club President, Ali recently played the part of Liesl von Trapp in The Sound of Music.

Friday night's game will give Ali the opportunity to visit Westman Place before the Keystone Centre becomes site of the Wheat City Stampede and Manitoba Horse Expo, featuring the 2007 Manitoba Finals Rodeo from October 25-28th.

Tickets to Friday's game - presented by Convergys - vs. Lethbridge, as well as Saturday's contest against the defending WHL Champion Medicine Hat Tigers are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order by phone at 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca. In recognition of the game, Convergys will host a special mid-day Tailgate Party from 11:30 - 1:30 p.m. in their downtown parking lot. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Brandon United Way.

Entering Wednesday night's game against Red Deer, the Wheat Kings were sitting in third place in the Eastern Division with a record of 6-2-0.
