
Cosby Drives in Three as Fisher Cats' Top Rock Cats

Manchester, NH - 3B Rob Cosby went 2-for-4 with a homer, a single and three RBI as New Hampshire rallied for an 8-6 win Friday night over New Britain.
Jean Machi (2-2), Sean Stidfole and Jesse Carlson shut down New Britain over the final four innings as the Fisher Cats handed the Rock Cats a sixth straight defeat.
New Britain (47-53) opened the scoring in the first on a double by Garrett Guzman (4-for-5, 2 doubles, 2 RBI), driving in Trevor Plouffe (2-for-5) to make it 1-0.
Cosby hit a homer to left field, his ninth, off Rock Cat starter Oswaldo Sosa to tie the game at 1-1 in the second inning.
The Rock Cats moved back in front 3-1 on a two-run homer by Luke Hughes off starter Kurt Isenberg in the fourth inning.
The teams continued to exchange runs through the middle innings. New Britain scoring on doubles by Guzman and David Winfree in the fifth and on a Brandon Roberts single in the sixth inning.
The Fisher Cats (54-50) pulled within one a Cosby RBI ground out in the fourth inning, and trailed 5-4 after Sergio Santos doubled in two runs in the fifth inning.
New Hampshire tied the game at 6-6 in the 6th inning when David Smith hit a two-run homer off reliever Tristan Crawford (6-5). It was Smith's 14th homer and fifth in the last five games.
The Fisher Cats took the lead in the 7th inning against Crawford. Manny Mayorson singled, and went to second on a single by Ryan Patterson. After Aaron Mathews' was intentionally walked, Rob Cosby singled in the go-ahead run, the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game. Chip Cannon then followed with a sacrifice fly.
Carlson pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his fifth save.
The series continues with a day/night doubleheader against the Rock Cats on Saturday. Game times are 2:05 and 7:05. An Atlas fireworks display follows the night contest.
