Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws have closed to within 14,871 fans of the 3-million mark in franchise history, a number that is sure to topple when Lakewood hosts a seven-game homestand beginning Saturday night.
The BlueClaws' 3-millionth fan will receive a bevy of prizes including two season tickets to the 2008 BlueClaws season (along with parking and Upstairs Club passes), an authentic BlueClaws jersey with "3- million" on the back, an autographed team bat and ball, a $50 gift card to the ClawsCove, a $50 gift certificate to the Upstairs Club, a ceremonial first pitch on the field before that night's game, and a half-inning on the radio.
Lakewood will become the fastest team in New Jersey and South Atlantic League history to go over the 3-million fan mark.
"The fact that we're going over this number in year seven says we have the best fans in Minor League Baseball," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "It's awesome that we have such a jam- packed homestand to eclipse the magic number."
The BlueClaws came into 2007 with a total attendance of 2,727,956 and having led the South Atlantic League in that category in each season of existence.
The homestand kicks off with a three-game set with Delmarva on Irish Heritage Night, presented by Five Guys Burgers and Fries, on Saturday. BlueClaws players will be wearing green jerseys, there will be Irish music in the Coors Light WRAT Trap, pipes and drums on the field before the game, and much more.
The evening also features post-game fireworks courtesy of Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood, re- scheduled from July 4th. Fans with tickets to the game on July 4th can exchange them for tickets to the July 14th or August 3rd games.
Sunday will mark the first-ever appearance at FirstEnergy Park of a Phillies Hall of Famer, as Steve Carlton will be on-hand to sign autographs and throw out a first pitch. His appearance is presented by Pine Belt Chevrolet of Lakewood and Freehold.
Monday marks the 2nd and final 2007 appearance of the ZOOperstars, a children's entertainment group. That night, the first 2,000 fans will receive championship ring stands courtesy of the American Red Cross, and it's a Kids Eat Free Monday thanks to Shop Rite.
Fans are advised to get to the park early on Tuesday night for the first of four games with first-half champion West Virginia. BlueClaws players will be lined up on the field for a full-team pre-game autograph session. There's also a wine tasting picnic courtesy of Sawyer's Buy-Rite and it's a Seniors Eat Free Tuesday thanks to Commerce Bank.
The BlueClaws will play their third 11:05 a.m. game of the year on Wednesday. The first 2,000 fans will receive Oversized Baseball Cards from the Asbury Park Press.
Thursday night is your chance to dream big as the first 2,000 fans 18 & older will receive Instant Lottery Tickets from the New Jersey Lottery.
The homestand concludes on Friday night with post- game fireworks courtesy of Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood.
The 2006 South Atlantic League Champion BlueClaws continue to have the most affordable ticket for Professional Baseball in New Jersey. Having led the South Atlantic League in attendance each year of operation, this year they will add their 3-millionth fan, becoming the fastest team in league and New Jersey history to do so.
