Admirals Announce Five-Year Deal with ESPN Radio 1310

May 24, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL) Norfolk Admirals

NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals and Max Media Radio have reached an agreement that will see the Admirals partner with WGH-AM 1310 (ESPN Radio 1310). With the agreement, ESPN Radio 1310 will become the flagship station for Norfolk Admirals hockey through the 2011-12 season, broadcasting all regular season and playoff games as well as the weekly Admirals Hour Talk Show.

"We are thrilled to expand our relationship with ESPN Radio 1310 and Max Media Radio," said Admirals President Ken Young. "Our association with the Tides and ESPN has been an excellent one, and we are glad to be establishing another strong relationship for the next five seasons of Admirals Hockey. We are delighted that our fans will be able to follow us on a stronger signal and that we will be heard well in all of the Hampton Roads area."

"We are delighted to have the Admirals join our Max Media team," said Eric "Zero" Mastel, President of Max Media Radio. "We have enjoyed working with Ken Young and Dave Rosenfield of the Tides over the past several years and look forward to working with the super organization they have with Admirals for the next five years."

ESPN Radio 1310 serves the entire Hampton Roads area and parts of Northeastern North Carolina. They have broadcast every game of the Admirals' sister club, the Norfolk Tides of the International League, since the start of the 2002 baseball season.

"We are ecstatic to be able to give our fans a radio broadcast of such high quality," said Admirals Vice President Mark Bernard. "I know Admirals fans will be happy that they will be able to hear Admirals Hockey throughout Hampton Roads on ESPN Radio 1310 for the foreseeable future."

"This gives us the perfect team of the Tides and the Admirals both on ESPN Radio 1310 for the first time," said Tony Mercurio, Program Director of ESPN Radio 1310. "We know the quality of the organization we have been working with in the Tides and realize that we will have the same kind of organization and commitment from the Admirals. This is a perfect match for ESPN Radio 1310 broadcasting two great local professional teams in the Tides and the Admirals."

The Admirals will enter their eighth season in the American Hockey League this October. Season tickets for the 2007-08 season are on sale now through the Admirals' office and through the Admirals' website.
