Three Bakersfield Players Among Candidates for Week Four Awards

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Each week, the af2 recognizes four outstanding individual performances through the U.S. Army Ironman of the Week, the Schutt Offensive Player of the Week, the ADT Defensive Player of the Week and the Cutters Catch of the Week awards.

The Bakersfield Blitz had three players considered as candidates for the weekly awards after a 45-42 win in the home opener against the Stockton Lightning on Saturday night.

WR/DB DeRonn Finley (Idaho State, '00) was named as the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game. Finley hauled in eight passes for 91 yards and one touchdown. Finley also had a 57-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Schutt Offensive Player of the Week award this week went to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton QB Ryan Vena, who was 21-29 for 199 yards and five touchdowns. He also added three rushing scores in the Pioneers' win over the Florida Firecats.

WR/LB Eric Mahanke (Fresno State, '98) was selected as the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game against Stockton. Mahanke had three catches for 43 yards, one interception and he recovered the game winning fumble in the end zone with 1:00 left on Saturday. He also had the Cutters Catch of the Game. The U.S. Army Ironman of the Week award went to Boise Burn WR/LB Emmett White. White had 8.5 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 33 kick return yards and a 44-yard touchdown run in the Burn's 70-34 win over Everett.

OL/DL Leon Moore (UNLV, '05) was named as the ADT Defensive Player of the Game. Moore had three tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack against Stockton. He was also a key in disrupting the Lightning rushing attack. The ADT Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Tri-Cities Fever DB Jamie Hattley. Hattley recorded a league-high 13 tackles in the franchise's first ever win. He also added one interception and five pass breakups against the Central Valley Coyotes.

Manchester Wolves WR/DB David Bailey won the Cutters Catch of the Week Award for his 33-yard touchdown catch in the 3rd quarter in his team's come-from-behind win over Fort Wayne.
