Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Join us for Opening Night Presented by Vineyard Bank here at The Epicenter, this Thursday Night! Game time is 7:05 PM, and gates open at 6:05 PM. Like every Thursday, it's a Thirsty Thursday, meaning $1 12 oz. beers and fountain drinks through the fifth inning. American Idol contestant Joelle James, a Redlands native, will sing the National Anthem. James made it to the "Hollywood" portion of the popular Fox program before being voted off in mid-February. She has performed the anthem for the Quakes before, and has also performed the anthem for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Anaheim Ducks, and Los Angeles Kings.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will perform the color guard, and the Native Sons of California will present an unfurled California State flag and Elks Lodge #836 will present an unfurled American Flag during the pre- game ceremonies. We will present the members of the 2007 Quakes "All-Star Game" style, reading their names and hometowns.

The official ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Troy Percival, the Los Angeles Angels' career saves leader who recently signed a minor league contract and officially retired an Angel. Percival spent his first 10 seasons with the Angels, earning 316 saves before signing with the Detroit Tigers for the 2005 season. Injuries finally caught up to Percival, ending his career. He remains active in the Angels organization as a roving pitching instructor and should be a regular visitor to The Epicenter this season.

Opening Night will also feature our post-game fireworks spectacular, the first of 15 fireworks shows this season.
