AHL announces suspensions

February 27, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League today announced the following suspensions:

Bridgeport Sound Tigers defenseman Drew Fata has been suspended for (3) regular-season games as a result of his actions during an AHL game at Albany on Feb. 23. Fata received a match penalty for deliberate attempt to injure under AHL Rule 21.1 at 20:00 of the third period.

Fata missed the Sound Tigers' games at Lowell on Feb. 24 and vs. Hartford on Feb. 25. He will also miss Bridgeport's game at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday, Mar. 2.

Lowell Devils forward Dan LaCouture was suspended for one (1) regular-season game as a result of his actions during an AHL game vs. Bridgeport on Feb. 24. LaCouture was assessed an instigator penalty within the final five minutes of the third period, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension under AHL Rule 47.21.

LaCouture missed the Devils' game at Portland on Feb. 25.

Lowell Devils forward Aaron Voros has been suspended for one (1) regular-season game as a result of his actions during an AHL game at Portland on Feb. 25. Voros received a match penalty under AHL Rule 47.14 during the second period of the game.

Voros will miss the Devils' game at Hartford on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Hartford Wolf Pack defenseman Dale Purinton has been suspended for one (1) regular-season game as a result of his actions during an AHL game at Bridgeport on Feb. 25. Purinton received an automatic one-game suspension under AHL Rule 47.10 for accumulating three instigating misconducts this season.

Purinton will miss the Wolf Pack's game vs. Lowell on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Portland Pirates head coach Kevin Dineen has been suspended for one (1) regular-season game as a result of his actions following an AHL game vs. Lowell on Feb. 25. Dineen was assessed a gross misconduct under AHL Rule 24.3(ii).

Dineen will miss the Pirates' game vs. Manchester on Saturday, Mar. 3.
