Laredo Bucks News Release

LOVELAND, Colorado - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks rode a spectacular effort by goalie Eric Marvin as they beat the Colorado Eagles 3-1 at the Budweiser Events Center in front of a sellout crowd of 5,289 fans on Wednesday night. Marvin stopped 31 of 32 shots as the Bucks ended the Eagles 19 game home win streak, two shy of Laredo's CHL record of 21 straight on home ice back in 2003-04. The Bucks have won four of their last five games, recording a standings point in all five and going 4-0-1. Laredo is a Southern Conference best 26-9-3 with 55 points and they lead the Southeast Division by ten points. The Bucks are currently on a six game road trip. Laredo returns home on Friday, February 9th, against the Arizona Sundogs. The Bucks are offering season tickets starting at $125 dollars. For more info call (956)-718-BUCK (2825).

The Bucks took the early lead on a power play chance. Forward Igor Agarunov circled out from behind the net and scored at 2:16 for his 13th of the season. It was the 15th time in the last 18 games Laredo has scored first. The Eagles came back to tie the game when forward Chris Hartsburg scored on a backhander from the bottom of the right circle at 12:34. The Bucks answered as forward Jeff Bes got loose on a breakaway down the right wing and rifled home a wrist shot at 13:56 high stick side for his 10th of the season. Late in the first Marvin robbed Eagles forward Scott Polaski on a rebound jam try alone in front to keep Laredo up 2-1.

In the second period the Bucks survived an early Eagles flurry and held onto the 2-1 lead after forty minutes of play. Laredo out shot Colorado 13-7 in the frame.

In the third period Marvin continued to make big stops and keep the Bucks in the lead. He made a huge save with the right pad, stopping forward Les Borsheim on a breakaway chance with less than two minutes to play. The Eagles pulled the goalie, but forward Bobby Chaumont scored his CHL rookie leading 21st into the empty net to seal the win at 19:48. FINAL SCORE Laredo 3, Colorado 1.

Marvin was brilliant in the win improving to 14-3-3. Marco Emond, the former Buck, played well stopping 21 of 23 shots, but fell to 20-4-0. Laredo was 2-7 on the power play while Colorado was 0-5. The Eagles out shot the Bucks 32-24.
