Alley Cats Win Fifth Game in a Row

Albany, NY (January 9, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats won their 5th game in a row tonight when they posted a 118-108 victory over the Albany Patroons. They picked up 6 quarter points in the game, only losing the first quarter. The Alley Cats shot 56% from the field and also won the rebounding battle. Indiana moved to 10-8 on the season.

Albany jumped on top early, grabbing a 27-21 lead after one quarter of play. Indiana was able to win the second quarter and close to within 3, 56-53, at the half. J.J. Sullinger led Indiana with 12 points at the break, while Gordon Klaiber had 12 for Albany. The Alley Cats came out determined in the third quarter. Erick Barkley helped spark a run with his 12 points in the quarter. They went on to win the quarter, 35-24, and take an eight point lead into the final quarter. It took two free throws by Carl Edwards with one second remaining, but Indiana was able to secure the fourth quarter.

Barkley paced the Alley Cats with 32 points and 6 rebounds. DeAndre Walker added 20 points and a team-high 8 rebounds. Shaun Fountain, who was named CBA Player of the Week yesterday, put up 19 points and 6 rebounds. Edwards returned to action after missing a few games with a concussion. He picked up where he left off, finishing with 13 points and 7 rebounds. J.J. Sullinger and Will Caudle round out the Alley Cats in double figures, with 15 and 10 points respectively.

Albany was led by Jamario Moon, who came off the bench to score 21 points. Eric Williams tallied 19 points, thanks to a 12 point third quarter, to go along with 9 rebounds. The CBA's leading scorer, T.J. Thompson, was held to just 14 points on 6 of 15 shooting. Three other Patroons finished in double figures. Kwan Johnson had a game-high 11 rebounds. Albany fell to 12-4 on the season with the loss.

The Alley Cats wrap up their 2 game set against the Albany Patroons on Thursday night at 7:35. Following that, they will return home to host the Pittsburgh Xplosion on Sunday at 3:00.
